There was a pretty good sized flare/cme yesterday (May 31). It was an M8.2 but it lasted longer than normal which produces a larger CME headed towards Earth.
We’re expecting a significant Geostorm today (Sunday). It might even cause some localized power problems on the grid but nothing on a national scale. We’ll likely see some auroras here in the South tonight as well.
June and July are the peak months of Solar Cycle 25. It’s reched the point where I get half dozen to a dozen solar flare notifications a DAY some days. Most of them are small but the sheer number is stunning.
With God’s mercy we’ll make it through this Solar Peak summer and the Solar activity will start to diminish over the next couple of years.
